A heart that arrived just in time for February

My exhibition in Zurich was quick, busy and a great success. 

In time for the Chinese New Year, some of my artworks were chosen for the "Select Art Fair Chengdu" with a special "Selection Panel Recommended" award.

But what I really wanted to share with you: 

I’ve been spending the cold January days in the studio, surrounded by paint, music, coffee and champagne… and somehow a whole little family of hearts, which I wanted to create since last year, appeared. 

I’ve just recently finished this new series of hearts. Each one starts with a clear intention: the shape, the scale, the way the form needs to sit strong and open on the canvas.

The part I can never fully plan: the colors. I let them choose themselves according to what’s alive in me that day. The mood, the emotion, the quiet or loud feeling in my chest decides whether it’s deep cobalt and gold, or fiery magenta layered over electric pink, or something in between. 

After a first layer to create the background colors, I add my Tai-Chi waves and let them flow freely with Gravity or Centrifugal force. I follow the colors, staying close to what my heart is saying right then.

The result is always a little surprising, even to me - bold, layered and very much alive.

I wanted to share a few with you, not because the calendar says Valentine’s, but because this time of year pulls my thoughts toward connection, toward the people who make the world feel more colorful. If one of these hearts feels like it carries a piece of that same energy for you - or for someone whose presence lights something up inside you - I’d love for it to find its home there.
