Happy Holidays! - and updates from my China trip

Yesterday I returned from China.
I spent the first three days in Shanghai, where I met friends and visited museums and galleries. At the Yuehu Sculpture Park, I saw Masayuki Koorida's impressive "Stone Forest" for the first time. A kind of modern Stonehenge. It consists of several stone pillars, of which over 20 weigh around 100 tons each. The artist explained the difficulties involved in transporting the stones from the quarry in Guangxi, 1,650 km away. For every truck transporting a stone, around 50 tires had to be changed during transport. Road gates had to be dismantled and rebuilt.
An undertaking that would probably no longer be possible in China today, let alone in any other developed country.

Afterwards, I traveled to Chengdu to install my “Centrifugal Installation Chengdu”, consisting of 16 LP Centrifugals, for the Biennale exhibition at XLY MoMA, a parallel exhibition to the Chengdu Biennale.

The opening took place on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
Titled "How Number Becomes Alive," much of the exhibition was dedicated to art created using AI. Alongside high-resolution AI photographs and films, artists presented sculptures and fashion designs based on the visual output of AI. A fashion show was accompanied by AI-generated music.
Approximately 35% of all exhibited artworks were created using AI.

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, my Meijian plum wine bottle was unveiled to the public in one of the old factory buildings of the Eastern Suburb Memory Park. A small solo exhibition accompanied the unveiling.
Meijian already collaborated with over 1000 Chinese artists. Knowing that I would be returning to China, they honored me with the privilege of being the first non-Chinese artist to design a wine bottle with them. The design is used for two plum wines: one where the wine was aged in oak barrels for 12 months, giving the wine more depth, and one where the wine was aged in whisky barrels for 12 months, giving the wine an exciting whisky note.

They interviewed me and my friend Liming Fu, whose bottle had only been released two weeks prior, for a short commercial. The interview's theme was "Hao jiu mei jian," a play on words that means "We haven't met in a long time" and also sounds similar to "Meijian is a good wine."
I'll send you the link as soon as the clip is released.
Besides these two important events during my short, twelve-day trip, I was invited to the opening of the 3rd Chengdu International Photography Exhibition and the 4th Tianfu Honggu Photography Exhibition.

In Chongqing, I met with former and potential future collectors, discussed my upcoming exhibitions organized by VA Galleries, and enjoyed two dinners in one evening before returning to Chengdu on Saturday morning to attend the opening of the Chengdu Biennale at the XLY MoMA.
Back in Switzerland, I am pleased to announce my upcoming exhibition at the Artourius Design pop-up gallery space from January 19–24, 2026. The opening reception will take place toward the end of the exhibition, tentatively on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A flyer with exact details will follow shortly. The space is conveniently located near Zurich's main train station and just 60 meters from Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich's most famous street.
